Learners take part in a project based learning model to learn journalistic skills. S2R has a clear focus on communication, media and literacy, It also has the added benefit of raising self-esteem, motivation and confidence for targeted learners, as well as widening educational opportunities.

 

A typical 10 week programme looks like this:-

 

Week 1

Welcome and introduction to S2R. Ground tour. Create narrated iMovie with photos and video of Glanford Park.

 

Week 2

Complete ground tour and new stadium iMovies.

 

Week 3

News gathering - what makes news.Interview top tips.

 

Week 4

Interview a professional reporter. Preparation for player interviews.

 

Week 5

Interview a professional footballer. Create player fact-files.

 

Week 6

Match preparation. Match reports. Twitter and live reporting. Match day.

 

Week 7

Create match day report and live reports.

 

Week 8

Planning studio film and script writing.

 

Week 9

Green screen studio filming. Creation of final presentation.

 

Week 10

Celebration event. Presentation of Study Parks Award certificates before invited guests.
