Good evening everyone and welcome back to The Attis Arena for this Enterprise National League match.

A warm welcome is extended to supporters, players, directors and personnel of the Shrimps. We hope that it will be an entertaining game and that the Iron are celebrating a victory come the final whistle.

Run With IT programme

Last week we welcomed pupils from The Grange Primary School and Brigg Primary to the study centre to start their Run With IT Enrichment programmes. Working alongside The Iron Foundation we are partnering with regional charity ‘Run With It’ to deliver a new education programme for North Lincolnshire schools, based here at the Attis Arena.

We’ll be using the power of football to create a unique, real-world learning experience for learners. Using the stadium and theme of football, pupils are engaged to develop and apply skills in maths, English and IT, while also boosting motivation and enthusiasm for learning and improved wellbeing.

After an introduction to the programme, we went on our first tour of the stadium. This was an exciting experience for many of our pupils as it was their first time at football ground. We even got to meet The Gaffer, Andy Butler who talked to us about his time as a player here at Scunthorpe. We explored the changing rooms and boot room, where we completed some numeracy activities, before heading back into the classroom.

We then started to prepare for interviewing some Iron players in a future session. We discussed the five W’s, open and closed questions and good interviewing techniques. Now on to the difficult task of choosing some tough questions for the lads!

We’ll have more on the interviews in a future match day programme
