Scunthorpe United Reading Stars - Mr Breis
This week, Rapper Breis (pronounced Breeze) joined us and our schools at The Attis Arena.
BREIS is a dynamic rap artist of Nigerian heritage based in South London. The session, here in the Iron’s Executive Lounge, for all 135 of our primary and secondary school pupils blended wordplay and humour with Hip Hop, Jazz and Afrobeat rhythms.
We learnt about the origins of Hip-Hop in New York back in 1973 and its progression to modern times.
Pupils also learnt how to create their own verses, skills that will be used back in school creating their own football chants.
Many pupils performed them in front of their peers. This was great fun and raised a lot of smiles from everyone who took part.
During the day, we were delighted to welcome Councillor Josh Walshe, Lead Member for Young People and Leisure, who took part in the activities and spoke to many of our pupils about the Reading Stars programme.
